Elated Cano feels at home in Seattle Niners Jersey

The easy joke is that Robinson Cano has 240 million reasons to love the Mariners, and clearly his whopping 10-year contract is the overriding reason he was at Safeco Field on Thursday for an introductory news conference with his new team.

But the former Yankees star had one more reason to add to that equation, a point Mariners ace Felix Hernandez pounded home when the two spoke by phone prior to Cano’s agreement on a contract that will pay him $24 million a year through 2023.

“He told me what was great about this organization,“Niners Jerseys Store Cano said. “He said they’re going to make you feel like family. They’ll take care of you. And that played a big role in my situation. You always want to be with people that treat you right.

“I can’t explain how happy I am right now,” he said. “Not because of the contract, but just the way I’ve been embraced here by the Mariners organization.”

Cano was all smiles during his unveiling, but he grew stern afterward when asked if he felt the Yankees had really wanted him back.

“I’d have to say no,” said the five-time Yankees All-Star. “I didn’t feel respect. We never got that close commitment about anything.”

Niners Jersey for Women’s Cano clearly wanted the 1989 San Francisco 49ers Jersey Yankees to push further than they did with a seven-year, $175 million offer. The Mariners sensed a longer-team deal could win the day, and they brought it full force with a financial package that is tied for the third-largest in Major League history.

The Mariners wooed Cano with more than money. They greeted him and his contingent of agents, including hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, with open arms as well as an open pocketbook.

“I say this sincerely. This whole process from our standpoint was really professional and a lot of fun,” said Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik. “When they came in a week ago, we had a birthday cake for Jay-Z, we spent time together in the locker room and on the field, we had jerseys made up for his whole group.

“I sat there as a GM watching this guy walk around the ballpark with a degree of excitement and I sensed that. I said, ‘Hey, we’ve got a real chance here.'”

The Mariners chances were emboldened, obviously, by their willingness to go the extra mile — and a few more years — on Stitched Niners Nike Elite Jersey Cano’s contract offer than the Yankees.

“I think length was very important,” Zduriencik acknowledged. “You could have stopped at a seventh year and probably wouldn’t have got it done. You could have gone to eight and probably wouldn’t have got it done. The fact the ownership allowed us to go to 10 years was a big, big factor.”

And also a big, big risk. But the Mariners feel it’s a risk worth taking at this point in their development, with Zduriencik talking about how “it’s time to add a star” to the position-player mix in order to help take the next step.

How will Niners Football Jersey Shirt for Sale Cano fare at the end of his contract, which runs until age 40? The Mariners note that Cano has missed only 14 out of a possible 1,134 games over the past seven seasons and has been remarkably consistent as well, being the first player in MLB history with five straight years with 40 or more doubles and 25 or more home runs.

“I do think he’ll age well,” Zduriencik said. “And if you look at his numbers, as a second baseman, he’s putting up All-Star first-base numbers. So even through the course of this contract, should it tail off a little, it’ll still be pretty good. He could probably play third base, probably play first base, we have DH in this league so maybe you can preserve him a little more as you go through his career.”

The Mariners had to sell Cano on Seattle as a place to play and live for the next decade, not to mention competing with the Yankees’ winning tradition. Cano said he’s eager to help lead the young group of players on the field and embrace a new area of the country at the same time. And he vows the money won’t change his approach.

“Am I going to keep working hard? Yes,” he said. “Even harder? Yes. I’m going to do my best. I’ll play the same way I played in New York. I’ll play hard and do my best to help win games.”

One of Cano’s agents,Niners Jersey Brodie Van Wagenen, said his group flew to Seattle four times over the last two weeks of negotiations as the contending teams whittled ultimately down to three clubs. And the more Cano learned about the Mariners’ situation, the more intrigued he grew.

“Players have always viewed Seattle as a great destination, a great city, a great ballpark,” Van Wagenen said. “The team naturally has experienced some struggles the last few years. When this process began, Robinson set out to learn as much as he could about all the teams that were interested.

“As he went through that, it became clear that this team was serious about winning, this team was serious about its commitment to Robinson and very clear about their respect and admiration for him as a player and person. And that commitment level resonated with him.”

And now? Cano said he can’t wait to get to Spring Training and begin playing with his first new team since signing with the Yankees in 2001 as a 19-year-old from the San Francisco 49ers Football Uniform Dominican Republic.

“It’s like you have a new house,” Cano said. “You can’t wait to get in and see it. I can’t wait to experience the organization and see what we can do.”

wait to experience the organization and see what we can do.”

Breaking down the 2013 Rule 5 Draft picks Peyton Manning Tennessee Vols Jersey

Peyton Manning Tennessee Vols Jersey Patrick Schuster created a lot of buzz as a senior at Mitchell High in New Port Richey, Fla., in 2009. He threw four straight no-hitters, and ESPN News broadcast his next start to a national audience.

Schuster Peyton Manning Women’s Jersey was in the news again Thursday at the Winter Meetings, as the Astros made him the No. 1 overall pick in the Rule 5 Draft, and traded him to the Padres as the player to be named in the deal that sent Anthony Bass to Houston the day before. San Diego general manager Josh Byrnes held the same position in Arizona when the D-backs drafted Schuster in the 13th round and signed him for $450,000.

Schuster, who spent the last two seasons in high Class A, will have to stick on the Padres’ 25-man roster throughout the 2014 season. If not, Rule 5 Draft guidelines mandate that San Diego put him through waivers and offer him back to Arizona for half of his $50,000 Draft price before sending him to the Minor Leagues.

The 23-year-old Schuster throws across his body from a low arm slot, which makes him very tough on left-handers. He held them to a .198/.244/.309 slash line in 2013, and also limited righties to a .553 OPS. He deceives hitters more than he overpowers them, working with an upper-80s sinker and a sweeping slider.

Below are scouting reports on the other eight players selected in the Major League phase of the Rule 5 Draft:

Peyton Manning Apparel Shop Adrian Nieto, C, White Sox (from Nationals): A fifth-round pick in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, Nieto batted .285/.373/.449 in high Class A this year. He offers some power and arm strength, though he still needs a lot of polish, both offensively and defensively.

Kevin Munson, RHP, Phillies (from Diamondbacks): Munson has had inconsistent results in the Minors, but he has reached Triple-A and can display a plus fastball and slider when he’s on. The fourth-round Draft pick in 2010 must improve his command.

Tommy Kahnle, RHP, Rockies (from Yankees): Kahnle posted a 2.85 ERA and 74 strikeouts in 60 Double-A innings this year, thanks to a mid-90s fastball. The 2010 fifth-rounder lacks a reliable secondary pitch and control (45 walks), which is why he was left unprotected.

Brian Moran,Peyton Manning Smokey Grey College Jersey LHP, Angels (from Mariners via Blue Jays): The older brother of Marlins third-base prospect Denver Broncos Peyton Manning On Field Uniform Colin Moran, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2013 Draft, Brian was a seventh-rounder in 2009. He’s much more deceptive than overpowering, throwing a lot of strikes with a mid-80s fastball and an upper-70s slider, and he struck out 85 in 62 2/3 Triple-A innings this season.

Seth Rosin, RHP, Dodgers (from Phillies via Mets): A fourth-round pick in 2010 by the Giants, Rosin went to the Phillies in the Hunter Pence trade two years later. Philadephia used him as a starter, and he went 9-6 with a 4.33 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 126 2/3 innings in Double-A this year. Los Angeles may turn the strike-thrower back into a reliever, a role in which he has touched 94-95 mph with his sinking fastball and shown a sharper slider.

Wei-Chung Wang, LHP, Brewers (from Pirates): Wang signed for $350,000 out of Taiwan in 2011, but a physical revealed an elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery. Pittsburgh voided his first contract and re-signed him for $60,000, which made him Rule 5 Draft eligible this year. He made his pro debut this summer in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League, where he compiled a 3.23 ERA and 42/4 K/BB ratio in 47 1/3 innings, and his stuff was equally impressive. His fastball was clocked as high as 95 mph, and he showed the potential for a solid curveball and changeup as well.

Marcos Mateo, RHP, D-backs (from Cubs): Another Peyton Manning NFL Football Shirts Tommy John surgery survivor, Mateo pitched in the big leagues in 2010 and 2011, but missed all of ’12 and much of ’13 after having his elbow reconstructed. His stuff has bounced back in the Dominican Winter League, where he has reached the upper 90s with his fastball and the upper 80s with his slider, though command always has been an issue.

Michael Almanzar, 3B/1B, Orioles (from Red Sox): The son of former Major Leaguer Carlos Almanzar, Michael signed for $1.5 million out of the Dominican Republic in 2007. He has two enticing tools in his raw power and his strong arm — he batted .268/.328/.432 with 16 homers in Double-A this year — but he’s not consistent with the bat and is limited athletically.

Rockies confident Anderson can be ‘impact starter’ Aldon Smith Jersey

Aldon Smith Football Merchandise Pitcher Brett Aldon Smith Jersey Anderson’s surgically repaired left elbow is as good as new. He suffered a stress fracture of the right foot in 2013, but that’s healed. It was a good time for a fresh start — one he received Tuesday, when the Rockies acquired him and cash from the Athletics for left-handed pitcher Drew Pomeranz and right-handed Minor League pitcher Chris Jensen.

Anderson, who turns 26 on Feb. 1, has struggled with injuries throughout his career — most significantly an elbow issue that led to Tommy John surgery in 2011 and the foot problem last season — but he is a ground-ball pitcher with a high strikeout-to-walk ratio of 2.98. Anderson went 1-4 with a 6.04 ERA last season in 16 games, including 10 relief appearances after returning from the foot injury.

Anderson is 26-29 with a 3.81 ERA in 84 games (73 starts) over five seasons, but his 2009 rookie year (11-11, 4.06 ERA in 30 starts) was his only season not interrupted by injury.

“I like baseball too much to be hurt, which is kind of cheesy,” Anderson said. “But I like to be out there competing. I want to be one of those guys. It’s tough to say because of my track record, but I want to be one of those guys you depend on to take the ball every fifth day and give the team an opportunity to win. As long as I’m healthy I don’t see any problems with that.”

There is more to Anderson than an injury history. The A’s thought enough of him to start him on Opening Day in 2013. The Rockies, who are close to being able to call their starting rotation a strength, thought enough to make a significant financial investment. Anderson is due $8 million in 2014. A Major League source said the A’s will pay $2 million of that amount.

“Anderson puts us in position to perform better out of the rotation right now,” said Bill Aldon Smith Women’s Red NFL Jersey Geivett, the Rockies’ senior vice president of Major League operations. “And that was the biggest thing. As far as his health, he’s been through the last couple years with injuries, the last one being the foot. But we’re comfortable with that and the progress he’s made. We feel like we’re getting an impact starter in this deal.”

The Rockies went 74-88 and finished last in the National League West in 2013. However, they were 49-32 in games started by left-hander Jorge De La Rosa and rightiesJhoulys Chacin and Tyler Chatwood, but 25-56 with all other starters.

“This is a guy that’s been a top-of-the-rotation starter for the A’s, who were a playoff club,” Rockies manager Walt Weiss said.

The addition of Anderson pushes Juan Nicasio, who struggled at times but managed a 9-9 record in 31 starts, to the fifth spot, with competition from righty S.F. 49ers Aldon Smith Football Shirts Jordan Lyles, whom the Rockies acquired last week from the Astros, and lefty Christian Friedrich, who didn’t pitch in the Majors last season because of back issues.

By trading Pomeranz, (4-14, 5.20 ERA in 34 Major Aldon Smith Stitched Jersey League appearances, 30 starts) the Rockies part with their last Major League roster link to the trade that sent former Rockies ace Ubaldo Jimenez to the Indians in 2011. But the Rockies have more concerns than making an old, if highly publicized, swap look good.

“We still believe in Drew, but there’s a timing issue with a younger pitcher and where they’re at in their career,” Geivett said. “We felt like Anderson helped solidify us for next year with a little bit more certainty.

“We’re just looking to make our club better. That’s all we do.”

The A’s had seven Major League starters and became younger with Pomeranz, 25.

“Brett’s been with us for several years, and someone obviously with that kind of talent we think very highly of, but with the amount of guys we have, we could use that to get younger guys with less service time, and that was attractive,” A’s general manager Billy Beane said.

Originally drafted by the D-backs out of Stillwater (Okla.) High School in the second round of the 2006 MLB First-Year Player Draft and sent to the A’s in the Dan Haren deal (the one that sent current Rockies star outfielder Carlos Gonzalez to Oakland), Anderson relies on a biting slider that he mixes with four-seam and two-seam fastballs, a curve and a developing changeup.Men’s Nike San Francisco 49ers Aldon Smith Red Team Color Jersey

Managers headline Hall’s Expansion Era ballot Navorro Bowman Jersey

Three of the greatest managers of their generation — Bobby Navorro Bowman Jersey Cox, Joe Torre and Tony La Russa — headline a blockbuster 12-man National Baseball Hall of Fame ballot under consideration by the Expansion Era Committee.

San Francisco 49ers Navorro Bowman Jersey for Sale Results of the voting by the 16-member committee will be announced on Monday at 10 a.m. ET, as per usual now during the first day of the Winter Meetings.

Cox’s candidacy is matched on the Baseball Writers’ Association of America ballot by two Braves pitchers — Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine — who pitched for Cox for a decade during his 25-year tenure managing in Atlanta. Maddux totaled 355 wins and Glavine added 305 for the Braves and several other teams. All three are on their respective ballots for the first time.

“Those guys were a big part of my baseball career, both Bobby and Glav,” Maddux said. “To be able to share something with them again would be that much more special. You’re always rooting for the best for your teammates and your ex-teammates. Whatever happens, happens. I’ll be happy for both of them regardless of what happens. Just to be considered is an honor.”

Thus, the induction ceremony behind the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, N.Y., on July 28 could have a distinct Braves flavor.

Cox, Torre and La Russa are joined on the ballot by another landmark skipper, Billy Martin, along with players Dave Concepcion, Steve Garvey, Tommy John,Niners Navorro Bowman Football Jersey Dave Parker, Dan Quisenberry and Ted Simmons. Marvin Miller, the first and highly influential executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association, and iconic Yankees principal owner George Steinbrenner round out the ballot.

“Wow, that’s a great group,” Cox, who managed the Braves for 25 of his 29 seasons as a skipper, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution earlier this month. “It’s something that you dream about, that’s for sure. You don’t think a lot about it, but it’s one of those situations where if it happens, it happens, and if it doesn’t, it doesn’t. But I’m happy to be amongst that group, that’s for sure. I’m honored.”

Maddux and Glavine played together under Cox in Atlanta for 10 seasons.

“I thought about that quite a bit,” Cox said about the possibility of being inducted in the same class as Maddux and Glavine in July. “That would be so special, I can hardly even think about something like that. If I ever got elected in, a lot of it would be because of those guys, that’s for sure.”

Miller’s name has previously been on ballots studied by several permutations of the Veterans Committee, and he missed election by a single vote on the first Expansion Era ballot three years ago. He died a year ago.

Navorro Bowman NFL Merchandise Miller’s renewed candidacy becomes even more poignant in the wake of the death last week of Michael Weiner, the union’s most recent executive director who lost a 15-month battle with brain cancer.

“Obviously, when it comes to our little sport of baseball, there’s no one, and I mean no one, who’s had more influence over the last 50 years than Marvin Miller,” Weiner said at Miller’s memorial service.

Steinbrenner, Martin, Concepcion, Garvey, John and Simmons were also on the previous Expansion Era ballot but did not receive the requisite number of votes.

Like all Hall of Fame Navorro Bowman Jersey For Sale votes, a candidate’s name needs to appear on at least 75 percent of the ballots to be elected. On this committee, that’s 12 votes. Members can vote for a maximum of five candidates.

The annual players ballot voted on by eligible members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America was released on Nov. 26. Newcomers on that ballot include Maddux, Glavine, Frank Thomas, Jeff Kent and Mike Mussina.

Earlier this year, the writers didn’t vote in a player among a contingent that included Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Sammy Sosa, Craig Biggio and Mike Piazza. All of them are back on this year’s ballot. Biggio received the most votes last year, 388, or 68.2 percent of the total ballots cast.

Last December, a Pre-Integration Committee voted in Col. Jacob Ruppert, who owned the Yankees during the Babe Ruth era, 19th-century catcher Deacon White and turn-of-the-20th-century umpire Hank O’Day.

As a result, the induction ceremony held in Cooperstown, N.Y., last July didn’t include a living inductee. No one expects that to occur again on July 27-28, when the 75th-anniversary induction weekend ceremonies are staged.

Here are the qualifications of the 12-man Expansion Era ballot:

Concepcion spent 19 seasons as a Reds shortstop, compiling a .267 average with 2,326 hits, 321 stolen bases and two Silver Slugger Awards, plus five Gold Glove Awards and nine All-Star Game selections.

Cox Navorro Bowman 49ers Uniform ranks fourth all-time in wins among managers, compiling a 2,504-2,001 (.556) record in 29 seasons as a Major League manager. His Braves won the 1995 World Series while capturing five National League pennants during his 25 years with the Braves. Cox also spent four years managing the Blue Jays. He led Atlanta to 14 straight division titles from 1991-2005.

Garvey compiled a .294 career average over 19 seasons with the Dodgers and Padres, amassing 2,599 hits, 272 home runs, 1,308 RBIs and 10 All-Star Game selections. He hit .338 with 11 home runs and 31 RBIs in 11 postseason series, was the Most Valuable Player in the NL Championship Series in 1978 and ’84, and won the 1981 Roberto Clemente Award. Garvey won four Gold Glove Awards and played in an NL-record 1,207 straight games.

John pitched in 26 seasons for the Indians, Dodgers, Yankees, Angels and A’s, finishing his career after the 1989 season with a record of 288-231 and a 3.34 ERA. His 700 career starts rank eighth on the all-time list and his 4,710 1/3 innings rank 20th all-time.

La Russa ranks third all-time in wins among managers, compiling a 2,728-2,365 (.536) record in 33 seasons, winning the World Series with the A’s in 1989 and the Cardinals in 2006 and ’11. He also guided Oakland to three American League pennants (1988-90) in 10 seasons and the Cardinals to three NL pennants (2004, ’06 and ’11) in 16 years. La Russa also spent eight seasons managing the White Sox, taking them to the ALCS in 1983.

Cherington: Jerry Rice Jersey Heavy lifting likely done for Red Sox

San Francisco 49ers Jerry Rice Vintage 1994 Throwback Football Jersey With Mike Jerry Rice Jersey Napoli’s big bat a successful physical away from officially returning to the Red Sox, general manager Ben Cherington can now focus on luxuries rather than necessities.

“We think if Opening Day was tomorrow, we’d be in pretty good shape. But like I said before, it’s not,” Cherington said. “We’ll keep working. There are things we could do, things we’d like to do to pursue, and there are still the flexibility and means to do that. But certainly the team is much more filled out than it was in the beginning of the offseason. It could be that we’ve done most of our heavy lifting for the winter, but certainly we’ll still keep working and see what else we can come up with.”

What about free agent Stephen Drew, who helped the Red Sox win the World Series with his stellar defense?

“Yeah we’ve had off-and-on dialogue, nothing too recent, but certainly we’re leaving the door open still,” Cherington said.

If the door eventually closes on Jerry Rice Merchandise Drew, the Sox can simply turn shortstop over to their best prospect,Xander Bogaerts. That would leave Will Middlebrooks as the starting third baseman. Cherington indicated he will still try to find another player for the left side of the infield, be it a starter or reserve.

“We feel pretty good about our alternative at shortstop, but we’ll see what happens the rest of the way. We’re still exploring different things, different ways to potentially improve the team,” Cherington said. “I think we’ve probably shifted more toward — assuming we get a deal done with the first baseman — we’ve probably shifted more toward the opportunistic part of this offseason maybe. And sort of looking at different scenarios, different ideas, and maybe nothing comes of those because we feel pretty good about where we are right now.”

Jerry Rice 75th Anniversary Jersey The Houston Jerry Rice Mitchell and Ness Jersey Texans aren’t wasting time in their search for a new head coach.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday on NFL Network’s “NFL GameDay First” that while the Texans “are getting their ducks in a row, trying to figure out where they’re going to proceed,” contact already has been made with at least one potential candidate to replace the fired Gary Kubiak.

Houston’s decision-makers have spoken with former Jerry Rice San Francisco 49ers Apparel Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith, a source with knowledge of the team’s thinking told Rapoport. We knew that was coming after Texans owner Bob McNair told reporters last week that Smith was in the mix.

The Texans have hired noted consultant Jed Hughes to lead their search. Rapoport reported that Houston is not going to hire a coach immediately because a handful of coordinators with playoff-bound teams are on the radar.

The Texans are looking for a veteran NFL coach with a track record of experience. Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio — who impressed as Denver’s interim coach — and former Arizona Cardinalscoach Ken Whisenhunt, now with the San Diego Chargers, fit the mold, per Rapoport.

Meanwhile, Jon Gruden is a name to keep an eye on. Rapoport was told by someone close to the ESPN analyst that Gruden, as always, will only consider a perfect situation for his return to the league.

Aaron Joe Montana Jersey Rodgers out for Green Bay Packers vs. Falcons

Joe Montana Football Merchandise The Green Joe Montana Jersey Bay Packers ruled out quarterback Aaron Rodgers for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. Matt Flynn will get the start.

“Aaron Rodgers is not ready to go,” coach Mike McCarthy said Friday.

Rodgers, who is missing his fifth consecutive start because of a collarbone injury, repeatedly has said he wants to play, but thePackers won’t force the quarterback back into action until the team’s doctors medically clear him.

“Aaron’s frustrated,” McCarthy said. “We’re in meetings all day together. He’s like every other player fighting to get on the field.”

NFL Men’s Mitchell and Ness 16 Joe Montana Throwback Red Team Color Jersey Media Insider Ian Rapoport previously reported that Rodgers would be unlikely to play against the Falcons.

In a must-win game, the Packers will rely on Flynn to keep their hopes alive in the NFC North.

Joe Montana Memorabilia Flynn looked terrible in last week’s Thanksgiving beatdown against the Detroit Lions. However, facing a downtrodden Falcons defense and having a couple extra days to prepare will help. We should expect to see a heavy dose of running back Eddie Lacy on Sunday as well against the Falcons’ soft run defense.

The question moving forward is whether the Packers will decide to shut down Rodgers for the season.

Rapoport reported Sunday that the team might consider shelving the quarterback for the rest of 2013 if Green Bay is out of the playoff hunt, not wanting to risk its star signal-caller in semi-meaningless games.

With a win, the Packers still would have a chance to make the playoffs. Lose and their cheese is all but grated.

We know one veteran quarterback who the New York Jets want back for 2014: David Garrard.

The signal caller told the Joe Montana Black and Red Jersey New York Post’s Bart Hubbuch that the Jets approached him two weeks agoabout returning next season.

Garrard signed with the Jets as a free agent in Joe Montana Mitchell and Ness Jersey March, but he left the team two months later because of recurring knee issues. The team brought him back in October after he started feeling healthy.

Presumably, the Jets like the mentoring job Garrard is doing with rookie quarterback Geno Smith.

The 35-year-old said he was undecided about returning to New York. Garrard told Hubbuch that he appreciates the Jetsbringing him back this season, but he wants to play and understands that it’s “Geno’s team.”

The 10-year NFL Joe Montana Mitchell and Ness Vintage 1989 Football Jersey vet said he’s healthier now than he’s been over the past several seasons and wants a shot to play regularly. We have a hard time believing a team would give the aging veteran a chance to run a team again, healthy or not. However, he could be a great mentor for a young quarterback like Smith. Many hand-holding veteran quarterbacks have picked up a nice paycheck for several years after the NFL threw them to the sidelines.

Case Ronnie Lott Jersey Sale Keenum benched for Matt Schaub in Texans’ loss

Mitchell and Ness Ronnie Lott Throwback Jersey For the second time in three weeks, Houston Texans quarterback Case Keenum was yanked in favor of Matt Schaub.

With the Ronnie Lott Jersey Sale Texans trailing 24-10 late in the third quarter of Thursday’s 27-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, coach Gary Kubiak made another quarterback change.

Schaub came on and immediately drove the length of the field for a seven-play, 77-yard scoring drive to pull within one touchdown.

Keenum Vintage 1989 Ronnie Lott San Francisco 49ers Football Jersey was 16 of 29 for 159 yards, one touchdown and one interception for a 68.0 passer rating while the undisciplined Texans went through the motions in all three phases of the game.

Schaub finished 17-of-29 passing for 198 yards with one TD and one INT.

As was the case in November, this was a coach’s decision as opposed to an injury to the starter.

“I kept myself ready to go,” Schaub said after the game. “That’s my job, and I’ll continue to do so.”

Kubiak said he would take his time before making a decision on a starter.

The book is out on Keenum. He’s susceptible to too many three-and-outs because he doesn’t handle blitzes well.

If Kubiak doesn’t trust Keenum after developing him for a year and a half, there’s little chance the nextTexans coaching staff will install him as the starter.

Speaking after the Yankees introduced catcher Brian Ronnie Lott USC College Football Jersey McCann to the media, managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner mentioned Kuroda while running down the team’s list of top offseason priorities.

“I think at this point, we’ve added a great catcher,” Steinbrenner said. “We need more hitting, we know that. That was our Achilles’ heel to a certain extent, not to mention injuries, last year.

“We need more hitting, but we also haven’t signed Kuroda, he’s still out there. There’s a few other pitchers out there. We’re not done with pitching, one way or the other, that’s for sure. We need another bat or two.”

The Yankees made Ronnie Lott Throwback Jersey Kuroda a contract offer in recent weeks and are waiting for a response. It is believed to be close to the one-year, $15 million pact that he worked under this past season. Kuroda, who prefers to work on a one-year commitment, was 11-13 with a 3.31 ERA in 32 starts.

“We have a need for starting pitching, and I would love to retain Kuroda,” Cashman said. “I have maintained dialogue with Steve Hilliard, his agent. We’ve had a great relationship and healthy dialogue so far. I believe he wants to come back, and we’re trying to make that happen, but I have nothing to show for that yet.”

Retaining Kuroda would solidify a rotation that Cashman said needs 400 more innings. Kuroda has exceeded 200 innings in each of the past three seasons, including a career-high 219 2/3 innings in his first Yankees campaign in 2012.

CC Ronnie Lott Retro NFL Jersey Shirt Sabathia and Ivan Nova are the only locks for the rotation at the moment. The mix could also include David Phelps and Adam Warren, as well as Michael Pineda, who has not thrown a big league pitch for the Yankees but is said to finally be healthy.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that there are several items likely weighing on Kuroda’s mind right now.

“I think there are some family dynamics that are important to Hiroki,” Girardi said. “And there are some decisions he has to make concerning that and how much longer he really wants to pitch. It physically gets harder for these guys year after year after year, and that’s a decision he has to make.”

Miggy moving back to first; Castellanos to man third Ronnie Lott Jersey

Who’s on first? Miguel Ronnie Lott Jersey Cabrera. Finally. It’s official.

The long-expected Ronnie Lott Retro NFL Jersey Shirt shift in the Tigers’ infield was set on Wednesday. Cabrera, who moved to third base two years ago when Prince Fieldersigned, will move back to first base next season. Nick Castellanos, the Tigers’ top prospect who moved from third base to the outfield in the middle of the 2012 season, will return to third.

Team president/general manager Dave Dombrowski, who had held off on finalizing the move for the past couple weeks since trading Fielder to Texas, confirmed it Wednesday.

“We’re looking at Nick Castellanos to be our third baseman,” Dombrowski said. “Miguel Cabrera’s going to play first base for us. We’ve discussed that with him. I guess we can make that official.

“We talked to Miguel. He’s happy to go to first. ‘I’m a team player. I’ll do whatever’s necessary to help the ballclub.'”

The delay, Dombrowski said, was in communication. Cabrera was quoted in a Venezuelan paper saying he told the Tigers he was ready to move back to first base. Dombrowski confirmed that conversation took place just before Thanksgiving break, but added that manager Brad Ausmus wanted to talk to Castellanos as well, which waited until after the holiday.

“We finally reached [Cabrera]. It took us some time,” Dombrowski said. “He was happy to do it. Then we went into Thanksgiving break. Brad wanted to talk to Castellanos about moving to third base, which he just did today, and Castellanos had been taking ground balls since the day the trade was made. We wanted to do all those things ourselves, properly.”

Castellanos, a shortstop in high school, spent the first season and a half of his pro career at third. His time there drew a variety of evaluations from scouts. Dombrowski called him a “natural infielder” and said he’ll improve the infield defense, but also tempered expectations.

“He’s solid. He’s average,” Dombrowski said. “I think he’s a guy that his hands are fine, his arm is fine, he’s athletic, he’ll move around at third base decently, but he’s not a Gold Glove third baseman. I think he projects to be an average third baseman that can hit, and I’m willing to live with the defense that may not be Gold Glove for the expense of the bat.”

Joaquin Mitchell and Ness Ronnie Lott Throwback Jersey Benoit was a mainstay in the eighth inning for the Tigers for 2 1/2 years before stepping into the closer role with stellar results last summer. Now that the Tigers have signed Joe Nathanas their closer, don’t expect Benoit to return as a setup man.

In welcoming Nathan, team president/general manager Ronnie Lott Mitchell and Ness Jersey Dombrowski knew he had essentially ruled out a reunion with Benoit, a free agent in a crowded market of late-inning relievers.

“I don’t see Joaquin coming back as a setup guy, no,” Dombrowski said. “I think somebody will sign him, from all indications, as a closer somewhere, so I don’t see that being a fit for us.”

Dombrowski didn’t rule out another signing for depth in middle relief for setup, but gave every indication that Bruce Rondon — who emerged as an eighth-inning force before elbow troubles limited him to one outing after Labor Day week — will slot into that role.

“We think he’s capable,” Dombrowski said. “He’s healthy. He’s feeling good. We look at him being a potential eighth-inning guy, and the rest of the bullpen falling into place after that. And I’m not saying we may not do something at some time, because you may do something with a lot of other spots if you think it makes you better. But we feel comfortable with Joe being the closer and then Rondon pitching the eighth inning for us.”

The Tigers Vintage 1989 Ronnie Lott San Francisco 49ers Football Jersey went into last spring with Rondon as their leading candidate to close, having opted not to add a veteran closer last offseason. Rondon’s struggles in the spring led to the re-signing of Jose Valverde, whose struggles led to Benoit’s promotion and Rondon’s emergence in the eighth.

The Tigers created room for Joe Nathan on their 40-man roster by designating infielderDixon Machado for assignment, shedding some of their middle-infield depth.

The Tigers had placed Machado on their 40-man roster prior to this past season. He has come up through the organization with a stellar reputation, but a lagging offense, which continued at Class A Lakeland with a .215 average and .559 OPS over 37 games in an injury-shortened 2013 season.

With Jose Iglesias now set as Detroit’s shortstop for the foreseeable future, the Tigers could risk losing Machado. If Machado passes through waivers without another team claiming him to put on their 40-man roster, Detroit can outright him. He’ll still be exposed to the Rule 5 Draft at next week’s Winter Meetings, but the risk of losing him there would be minimal.

“We knew that this potential existed,” Dombrowski said, “and before we protected the seven guys that we did [on the 40-man roster last month], we said, ‘OK, if we sign a guy or two, are they ahead of these guys?’

“We like Ronnie Lott USC College Football Jersey Machado. He hasn’t hit very well so far and we hope to keep him in the organization, but we’re deeper at shortstop now with Iglesias and now we have [Steve] Lombardozzi, who can play there. Hernan Perez can play second or short. We have [Eugenio] Suarez, too, so we’re a little bit deeper.”

Fister a fantastic addition to Nationals rotation Peyton Manning Jersey

Denver Broncos Peyton Manning Football Merchandise Did the Washington Nationals just become the favorites to win the Peyton Manning Jersey National League in 2014? OK, never mind. Been there, done that, right? Besides, there’s plenty of time for that stuff in the months ahead.

For now, let’s take a deep breath and begin with the obvious. A team that was already one of baseball’s 10 best got better Monday night, acquiring right-hander Doug Fister from the Detroit Tigers for three young players, including highly regarded 22-year-old left-hander Robbie Ray.

Because of Ray, who has averaged more than a strikeout an inning over four Minor League seasons, this trade isn’t the giveaway some are portraying it as. Besides that, anyone who makes that kind of snap judgment needs to take a deep breath and see what the Tigers will look like on Opening Day.

In trading Prince Fielder and Fister in the span of a few days, Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski cleared $14 million from his 2014 payroll. If you’re assuming Dombrowski has something big planned, you’re not alone.

Free-agent outfielder Shin-Soo Choo is the most obvious fit, but Peyton Manning Denver Broncos On Field Uniform Carlos Beltran or Jacoby Ellsbury would also make sense. Could Dombrowski even have his eyes on Robinson Cano?

That one makes less sense after he acquired second baseman Ian Kinsler from the Rangers in the Fielder deal, but stranger things have happened. Regardless, it’s silly to judge the Fister trade until we see what else Dombrowski has planned. And given Dombrowski’s history, there is something else.

But I digress. This is a tremendous acquisition for the Nationals. Fister, 29, has averaged 189 innings and a 3.48 ERA over the past four seasons and is coming off a 2013 campaign in which he went 14-9 and pitched a rock-solid 208 2/3 innings.

Those American League numbers should translate nicely to the NL. And how will Fister’s stuff look on a staff with all those blazing fastballs? After seeing Stephen Strasburg’s 100-mph heater one night, opposing batters may have even more trouble adjusting to Fister’s assortment of 89-mph fastballs along with changeups, sliders and curveballs.

With Fister tucked into a rotation with Strasburg, Peyton Manning NFL Apparel Gio Gonzalez, Jordan Zimmermann and Ross Detwiler, the Nationals have a rotation capable of matching up with any in the game.

Nationals general manager Mike Peyton Manning Jersey for Sale Rizzo teased all of us a couple of weeks ago when he talked about tweaking his roster for 2014. His team was already good enough that he didn’t have to do anything dramatic. But he smiled and said, “You know I’m not afraid of signing a free agent or making a trade.”

If he likes the deal now, he’s probably going to love it a year from now after he has Fister in his clubhouse for an entire year. Because Fister doesn’t throw 98 mph, he has to attack hitters’ weaknesses and keep them off-balance.

His new teammates can learn plenty by watching Fister work his way through a game. His reputation is that of someone who prepares relentlessly and works hard at conditioning and sweating the small stuff. If the Nationals are paying attention, they may learn plenty.

If there’s a downside, it’s that Washington’s infield defense wasn’t very good last season, and that could be a problem for a pitcher like Fister, who relies on ground balls and teammates making plays behind him.

On the other hand, both Nationals third baseman Stitched Peyton Manning Jersey Ryan Zimmerman and shortstop Ian Desmondwere solid defensively after the All-Star break last season as the club played its best ball and crept back into contention.

In the end, it was a deal Rizzo couldn’t pass up. Fister was 32-20 in 68 starts for the Tigers since 2011, and in the last three seasons, he has been arguably one of the 10 best pitchers in the AL.

The Nationals were widely seen as one of baseball’s two or three best teams around this time last offseason. To miss the playoffs was bitterly disappointing, and Rizzo hasn’t attempted to sugarcoat it.

But the Nationals were hit hard by injuries, and now Rizzo has replaced Dan Haren with Fister. And there’s that 2013 season in which the Nationals were forced to learn some tough lessons. They again appear to be positioned to do great things in 2014, and on Monday night, they got even better.
